What thoughts are you choosing and encouraging?
“This little volume (the result of meditation and experience) is not intended as an exhaustive treatise on the much-written upon subject of the power of thought. It is suggestive rather than explanatory, its object being to stimulate men and women to the discovery and perception of the truth that –
They themselves are makers of themselves
by virtue of the thoughts which they choose and encourage; that mind is the master-weaver, both of the inner garment of character and the outer garment of circumstance, and that, as they may have hitherto woven in ignorance and pain they may now weave in enlightenment and happiness.” As a Man Thinketh, ~James Allen
Martin kicks off this episode with a quick read of the above foreword by James Allen and then breaks down some of the main ideas, sharing his experience as it relates to Allen’s opening insights.
“Mind is the master-weaver, both of the inner garment of character and the outer garment of circumstance…”
Our habits of thought and behavior direct and dictate our circumstance, our present condition and then, ultimately shape and define our character.
Our unique capacity to take mindful control of THOUGHT— to direct our thinking toward our goals and ambitions is omnipotent. Or, we can waste the capability and allow it to drift idle and aimless.
This episode ends with a bit of a challenge — to be mindful of our thoughts and our speech and ask, “What are your thoughts weaving today and what form will they assume tomorrow?”
We all have this unique gift… the powerful capacity to develop new habits of thought. And, it can only begin with awareness and then the intention to apply it consciously.
You can get to do this any time you decide!
