“If you are trying to achieve goals that are not in line with governing principles, than you’re making things much harder then they ought to be.” Tweet This
Do you seem to lack the willpower you need when it comes to accomplishing your goals? If so, don’t sweat it— there’s actually a better way!
It’s important to know that everyone has a limited amount of energy, so as the day grows longer willpower tends to deplete. In this episode, Martin points out a few examples of how willpower fades and suggests that rather than focusing on willpower, perhaps you should focus upon developing something else— something that makes willpower less important.
It turns out that all truly successful people rely on the supportive, positive habits they’ve developed that set them up for success.

A great way to develop HABITS is by applying the P.A.R.R. methodology. (9:45):
- Plan
- Act
- Record (tracking + notes)
- Reassess
These and other ideas shed light on how you can make things easier and more efficient when it comes to achieving your goals (14:39). Martin also addresses the importance of environment and the influence principles have when it comes to goal achievement (18:35). He also shares Dr. Covey’s “The Law of the Farm” and revisits an oldie but a goodie, perhaps the most important rule in the world, The Golden Rule.
